Rebecca Sitton will tell you, "The SOURCEBOOK Series for Teaching Spelling and Word Skills is a cumulative effort of educators across the country. I have been their facilitator. Together we orchestrated an alternative to a customary approach to spelling. The new edition represents what we've learned together so far." Rebecca began her career as a teacher in Oregon. She was involved with regular education, special education, and curriculum and staff development. For over a decade she has been teaching teachers, conducting nearly a hundred seminars a year throughout the United States and Canada. Networking with classroom practitioners keeps her current on classroom issues and enables her to speak specifically to the needs of teachers and students. The 1st Edition of the SOURCEBOOK Series was a natural outcome of Rebecca's spelling seminars that were designed to help teachers make a "spelling difference." The Series expanded to several teacher resource books. These, in turn, gave birth to the 2nd Edition—one book for each grade level—stronger in skills, abundant in blackline masters and instructional aids, friendlier, and easy to manage. It embodied suggestions from teachers who were generous with their advice and support. Now the Series is in its 3rd Edition—the philosophy hasn't changed a bit, but the format and skill base has evolved to reflect teachers' needs. Rebecca has published numerous titles in Language Arts and Spelling with several publishersmaterials from preschool to adult education, covering both regular and special education. She now concentrates on her own spelling projects and is the exclusive spelling instructor for the Bureau of Education and Research. Her education includes degrees in Speech Pathology-Audiology and Education, an M.A. in Special Education, and certificates in Extreme Learning Problems, Early Childhood Education, and School Administration. Rebecca lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, with her husband. She continues to give generously of her time to educators who have questions or comments via scheduled conference calls and often presents sessions at national conferences.
