The Prime Factor to Produce Student Achievement Gains—What Current Research Says and How to Make it Happen

Improved classroom instruction is the prime factor to produce student achievement gains (A. Odden and M. Wallace, Education Week, August 6, 2003).  For how-to strategies to increase students’ achievement and improve teachers’ Sourcebook instruction, select from these EPS Professional Development options:

  • Attend a Sitton Spelling and Word Skills open enrollment seminar.  This fast paced, one day seminar is designed to give you the instructional strategies and Sourcebook support that will transform your spelling and word work lessons!  Visit www.epsbooks.com/pd and follow the links to view the seminar dates and locations.
  • Schedule a Sitton Spelling and Word Skills seminar at your school or district – similar content to the open enrollments but more economical for teacher groups of 20 or more and a way to get everyone started with Sitton instruction collaboratively. Email us at sittonspelling@epsbooks.com or call 888.WE.SPELL to explore this option.
  • Use the Tutor Me Training® CD-ROM, Sourcebook instruction for levels 1-8.  Valuable for teachers and parents, it includes an Overview DVD of the series and grade-specific training on CD-ROM to equip you to begin the program tomorrow. Invite parents to discover how their child will be learning to spell with the Parent Introduction module (sold separately). Locate this resource in the EPS catalog or via the website, www.epsbooks.com
  • Contact your EPS Sitton specialist at sittonspelling@epsbooks.com with questions, requests, or comments.
  • Contact your local EPS representative to request a Sitton Spelling presentation at your area educational conference. They can also assist you in determining if a seminar, Tutor Me CD-ROM, or a conference call might best address your needs as well as answering product questions. Visit www.epsbooks.com/reps to locate and contact your sales representative.
